Ubisoft’s official Twitter account posted a tweet claiming that all support tickets submitted about Splinter Cell were fake, but the developer has since retracted their statement. The question is: did Ubisoft make an error in removing legitimate customer complaints from their platform?
In an attempt to defuse a brewing controversy, Ubisoft has denied that it is banning customers who submit support tickets for Splinter Cell. The company says the report was deliberately fabricated by the game’s publisher in order to get more publicity.
The “new splinter cell” is a thread on Ubisoft’s forums that claims to be from an employee of the company. The thread was posted in response to the banning of customers who submitted support tickets for Splinter Cell.

Customers were advised in a now-deleted discussion on the Splinter Cell Blacklist forum that filing a ticket would result in a seven-day ban, and that anybody who attempted to get around the restriction by using an outdated client would be permanently banned. Tara Johnson Reichley, the Head of Customer Relationship Center, looked to be the poster.
Fans of the Splinter Cell Blacklist,
Many customers have been having difficulty connecting with the Splinter Cell Blacklist services while trying to use the multiplayer or cooperative parts of the game, according to one of our team leaders here at Ubisoft Customer Support.
We’re aware of the problem, so don’t worry. However, due to the game’s age and very low player population, the game team has opted not to invest any more resources in resolving this problem.
As a result, I must beg you, our devoted gamers, to abstain from submitting any more support requests on this problem. My team and I have no say in the game teams’ decision-making process, and continuing to burden the support team with well-known and insoluble difficulties just serves to impede other players from getting the rapid problem-solving they deserve.
Any subsequent support tickets relating to this problem will be subject to a seven-day restriction. You will not be able to make purchases on the Ubisoft shop, log in to Ubisoft websites, log in to your Ubisoft account, or play using the Ubisoft Connect client at this time. You may still play offline, however. This ban will not be lifted by customer service.
Any further infractions will result in a lifelong suspension.
Users who are caught purposely utilizing an older version of Ubisoft Connect or Uplay launchers to get around the problem will be banned. Older versions of Ubisoft Connect are no longer safe, and using them might expose your Ubisoft account or Ubisoft as a whole to security breaches.
Thank you for your patience in this situation.
This infuriated fans, who rushed to social media to express their displeasure with the post. Several gaming sites reported on it, and Ubisoft informed Kotaku that the post was written by someone impersonating Tara Johnson Reichley within 24 hours. The topic, however, was locked and stickyied, which could only be done by moderators, administrators, or individuals with such rights. Since the end of the summer, the game’s online service has been down virtually every month. The solution indicated in the article may also be found in one of the following forum threads.
Things weren’t much better in 2020, with one Steam forum detailing server difficulties going back to 2013. Some have speculated that since Ubisoft has supposedly greenlit a new Splinter Cell game, the firm is contemplating shutting down the servers for Blacklist.
