The “most anticipated games of 2021” is a list of the most anticipated games that are coming out in 2021. The list includes games such as “Metroid Prime 4”.
With so many titles planned for the Switch, 2022 is shaping up to be a fantastic year for Nintendo lovers. With that in mind (and past tendencies in mind), I thought it’d be amusing to create a month-by-month analysis of what games will be revealed, how each release will review/sell, and everything that will release. I also forecast when I expect things will occur, although these are more estimates than precise dates. In any event, I’d love to hear your comments on whether or not I was correct, as well as any modifications you’d make. But, without further ado, here’s a glimpse into Nintendo’s future in 2022:
January:
- Releases that have been pre-scheduled:
- Arceus from Pokemon Legends (January 28)
- The game will garner mixed reviews, and fans will not get the open world they hoped for, but it will sell well enough to warrant future DLC. Despite public uproar, it will remain a little blip on the Pokemon radar and will never get a meaningful sequel.
- Arceus from Pokemon Legends (January 28)
February:
- First and foremost (February 16)
- DLC for Mario Party Superstars has been announced.
- New boards such as D.K. Jungle Adventure, Western Land, Wario’s Battle Canyon, Chilly Waters, and Bowser Land will be introduced, as well as playable characters like as Diddy Kong and Toad.
- Announcement of Mario Kart: World Circuit
- Similar to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, it is a culmination of all the series has accomplished while also adding numerous new Nintendo properties with their own karts and circuits. Link, Zelda, Villager, Isabelle, Inkling Boy and Girl, Fox, Falco, Kirby, King Dedede, Captain Falcon, and Samus will be the new representatives. Tracks from Pokemon and Fire Emblem will also be included, albeit without their own drivers.
- Announcement of the Heavyweight Champion
- A 2D indie-developed version of the old Punch-Out! gameplay, with unique finishing abilities, parry-style counter strikes, and a “power meter” that provides Mac more attack choices the longer he goes without being struck. Speedrunning and rhythmic perfection will be emphasized.
- DLC for Mario Party Superstars has been announced.
- Heavyweight Release: Punch-Out (February 27)
- Although it does not set the globe on fire, fans and reviewers alike are pleased to see Nintendo easing its grasp on its IPs. Cadence of Hyrule will be compared, and speculations of further indie collaborations will circulate.
March:
- Releases that have been pre-scheduled:
- Triangle Approach (March 14)
- Will get similar reviews as Octopath Traveler, with reviewers praising the plot and visual design. It will, however, not sell as well as Octopath and will not get any post-launch maintenance.
- Triangle Approach (March 14)
- Direct from Kirby and the Forgotten Lands (March 30)
- While regions will be semi-open and continue without level boundaries, the advancement will not be open world as many had imagined. Curbi, a new zombie enemy who is envious of Kirby’s sweetness, is introduced, along with his five “Living Dead Generals,” whose objective is to reclaim the earth they once called home. King Dedede and Meta-Knight will make cameo appearances but will have no bearing on the plot.
April:
- Releases that have been pre-scheduled:
- Advance Wars: Reboot Camp is a sequel to Advance Wars: Reboot (April 8)
- Some may criticize the simplistic visual style and outmoded combat design, while others will praise it. The game will also fail to sell well, much to the dismay of fans worldwide.
- Advance Wars: Reboot Camp is a sequel to Advance Wars: Reboot (April 8)
- Kirby and the Forgotten Lands is now available for purchase (April 16)
- Will be unexpectedly warmly received, with reviewers enthusiastic about the series’ new direction. Sales will be much greater than Star Allies, but not sufficient to compete with larger properties such as Splatoon or Mario.
- DLC for Pokemon Legends Arceus: Platinum Age has been announced (April 22)
- The present map will be expanded with new, smaller town sections and shrine-style fighting arenas, and the formerly strict task structure will be opened up, allowing for complete open world exploration. Characters from Diamond and Pearl’s predecessors will make cameo appearances, complete with their own unique trainer bouts.
May:
- Release of Mario Kart: World Circuit (May 28)
- The game will sell a lot of copies and get a lot of positive feedback. The plethora of fanservice will delight fans, and the controls and game feel will be the greatest they’ve ever been. The game will serve as Nintendo’s Christmas package, and it will swiftly become one of the console’s best-selling titles.
June:
- Release of Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak (June 8)
- Many people will relate Monster Hunter World: Iceborne to this game, and the material will be comparable in style. This, like the main game, will sell well and get favorable reviews, with no controversy.
- (June 15) E3 Direct:
- Full Spotlight on The Legend of Zelda: The Runes of Fate (BOTW 2)
- It will be revealed that the game will take place in two distinct worlds: the original game’s universe and a distant past world. The plot centers on a time-altering force that has escaped from the depths under Hyrule Castle in the present day, wreaking chaos in the timelines. This results in the resurrection of Ganondorf, the transformation of Link’s arm into a time-shifting relic, and the teleportation of numerous characters between realms. Before Ganondorf uses the previous world to unearth the holy realm, steal the triforce, and take over the world, the only way to restore order is to collect the runes used to block time and space. New gameplay components will emphasize travel, both across the globe and over time, with dungeons shown to be separate locations with various puzzle kinds.
- Announcement for Fire Emblem Echoes: The Blade of Fire
- A remake in the manner of Three Houses of Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade and Fire Emblem: The Blinding Blade, integrating material from both games into a single, longer plot with a few additional situations to further connect the two games.
- Trailer for Shovel Knight Dig: Shovel Knight Dig: Shovel Knight Dig: Shovel Knight Dig
- Spore Knight and Drill Knight are seen in more detail, as well as the addition of Prism Knight and Scrap Knight from Shovel Knight: Pocket Dungeon.
- Announcement of the Persona Collection
- In a single $60 package, you get the first four Persona games. Uses the Persona 4 golden PC port, as well as an emulated version of Persona 1 and 2 and a similar port for Persona 3 FES (released for PC earlier this year) (including Innocent Sin and Eternal Punishment).
- Announcement for Xenoblade Chronicles 3 (2023 Release Date)
- A sequel to Xenoblade Chronicles 2 that uses the same engine and tells the narrative of the convergence of two parallel worlds created in the previous two games. The playable party includes a mix of new and existing characters, as well as linked titan-esque places that may be flown between by airship.
- Announcement for Super Mario Odyssey 2 (2023 Release Date)
- A straight follow-up to the previous game, with a more open framework akin to Super Mario 64. In the Mushroom Kingdom, there is also a new center area at Mario’s freshly built home, which develops and evolves dependent on the player’s activities. The exact number of worlds will remain a mystery, but the focus will be on a feeling of discovery and a plethora of mysteries to be discovered, including new costumes and even whole hidden places.
- Full Spotlight on The Legend of Zelda: The Runes of Fate (BOTW 2)
July:
- Release of Splatoon 3 (July 21)
- It will do well in reviews and sales, similar to Splatoon 2, with longstanding fans glad to have a steady supply of material and Splatfests to enjoy. Some may be disappointed by the absence of new modes or significant gameplay improvements, but this will be compensated for by a considerably enlarged single-player narrative that draws inspiration from the highly popular Octo Expansion.
August:
- Release of Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope (August 14)
- Will build on the foundation already forth in the original game by including a bigger, lengthier campaign with obviously more resources at its disposal. The comedy will be consistent, and the gameplay will be better than before, resulting in higher ratings but lower sales.
September:
- The Last Direct (September 7)
- Announcement: Mario & Luigi: Explorers for Hire (2023 Release Date)
- Grezzo collaborated on the project alongside main developers from the now-defunct Alphadream. It follows Mario and Luigi as they become “all washed up” in the face of newer, more renowned explorers from all around the globe. This causes the plumbers to go on a worldwide quest to reclaim their reputation before the Mushroom Kingdom (whose economy is built on tourism for the Bros.) is sold to Bowser, who is now more famous than ever. Special moves are used as additional gimmicks/angles for the Bros. as celebrities, and bouts include an audience similar to Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door.
- Announcement of the NSO Gameboy Library
- The NSO Expansion Pass includes a starting lineup of 12 Game Boy and Game Boy Color games that are exclusively accessible via the NSO. The majority of the usual choices are available, although TLOZ: Link’s Awakening and any Pokemon representation are absent at launch.
- Announcement of the Metroid Prime Trilogy
- All three original Metroid Prime games are included in a $60 bundle, which includes an enhanced Wii version with additional control choices and 1080p quality.
- Teaser Trailer for Metroid Prime 4
- It doesn’t show any gameplay or a release date, but it does hint to a sequel to Metroid Prime 3, as well as a new suit design for Samus, ship flying parts, and a playable Zero Suit Samus.
- Announcement: Mario & Luigi: Explorers for Hire (2023 Release Date)
- Release of Bayonetta 3 (September 23)
- Will sell well and get favorable reviews, but will be hampered by a problematic development. As a result, overall playtime will be limited, and material will be scarce. Hackers will also disclose the information many weeks ahead of time.
October:
- Remake of Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade (October 18)
- The film received positive reviews, although some fans were disappointed by the lack of time-management components in Three Houses. However, due to Roy’s popularity in Super Smash Bros, it will continue to be the series’ second most popular game in terms of sales.
- Release of Pokemon Legends: Arceus Platinum Age Expansion (October 22)
- It sells exceptionally well, as do other Pokemon games, but there is a lot of backlash from fans who believe it should have been included in the main game.
- Release of the Persona Collection (October 31)
- It sells well and receives positive reviews, but it disappoints fans who began with Persona 5, both because it was not included and because the prior games were obsolete.
November:
- Release of the Metroid Prime Trilogy (November 12)
- It sells better than any other Metroid Prime game, though not as well as Metroid Dread. The antiquated aesthetics and lack of patches for faults in the games are criticized in reviews, but the collection’s significance as a lead-up to Metroid Prime 4 is praised.
- Release of The Legend of Zelda: The Runes of Fate (November 26)
- Although it has been hailed as one of the finest games of the year, others have complained that it loses some of the enchantment that came with the original’s completely new setting and universe. Although it sells well, it is fraught with criticism owing to its poor performance and the lack of any type of Switch Pro.
December:
- Announcements for the Game Awards (December 9):
- Both The Legend of Zelda: The Runes of Fate and Mario Kart: World Circuit were nominated for Game of the Year, but God of War: Ragnarok took home the award. Splatoon 3 isn’t nominated for Best Multiplayer Game, but Kirby and the Forgotten Land takes up the award for Best Family Game. In addition, Mario Kart: World Circuit DLC comprising Paper Mario, Pilotwings, and Wave Race content has been revealed. Hollow Knight Silksong gets a new trailer to go along with its nomination for Most Anticipated Game.

Nintendo is in shambles.
Since the advent of the Switch, Nintendo has been rapidly declining. They don’t seem to comprehend their past popularity and consistently botch things up, but they are Japan’s wealthiest corporation, and even when they release a blunder like the Mario 3d all stars nonsense, they earn millions. This is simply my own view,…
