“Alternative map settings” (AMS) is a popular computer-gaming term that describes how players can change the game’s default settings, such as turning off the HUD or changing the color palette. It is an open-source modification of games like Counter Strike: Global Offensive and DayZ to allow for greater immersion by removing features which may be obstructive to gameplay. The AMS gaming community has been around since 2001 with over 1,000 mods available through Steam Workshop today.
The “back to ubersreik missions” is a feature that was added in the last update. It allows players to return to the map of Ubersreik, which is now available as an alternative setting.
As a result, I had a really vivid and clear dream about having several maps for missions. The textures and “narrative” of the maps were modified as a result. So, how did it go? I have two instances from my dreams (I will throw in weird details I remember along the way).
Alternatives to War Machines
The goal was to penetrate an invaded dwarf stronghold and prevent the skaven from obtaining the dwarfish heirlooms. The U5 had to navigate a subterranean system to get to the hold in the first segment. The spot where you typically approach the camp via a tree has been replaced with a brass pipe that leads to some kind of heirloom storage hall. Everything seemed to be the same as the Karak Azgaraz assignments from the previous game. I’m not sure whether you had to physically destroy the heirlooms (which isn’t something a dwarf would do lightly) or if you had to hex them in some manner. In any case, the heirlooms took the place of the doomwheels in the original quest, and Bardin was emphatic that they couldn’t fall into the hands of the skaven. After that, you had to make your way through the hold to an underground port linked to a river, where you had to hold out and wait for the boat to arrive. Random knowledge that has remained in my head: Dwarf king Brizzov Brokkozson assigned the mission to the U5. I’m not sure whether that’s a name from the mythos or if I heard/read it someplace else.
Alternative to Into the Nest
This one is a lot of fun: The U5 begins on a mountain and descends through the trees towards a goblin city in the forest (forest goblins and spider riders as enemies please). Everything seemed to be typical goblin buildings, with sticks knotted together and spiderwebs strewn around. The heroes had to lift a massive tree trunk hanging by cobweb instead of the enormous water wheels. I remember Sienna saying something about how simple it would be to fire the webs and everyone would fall to their deaths before Victor shouted them off (does Victor have a fear of heights?). The actual nest at the bottom of the hold was replaced by housing that adhered to or formed part of the tree roots. Webs replaced Black Fur Bridge once again. Someone mentioned the size of the spider that spun the webs, and Bardin said that Okri could easily kill such a spider. I woke up before I got to the Skarrik bit, which is annoying, but now I’m pretty wondering what a spider gobbo boss would have looked like.
This dream seemed to be quite genuine, and I recall dreaming about being in the keep and choosing a mission. I hope you, my fellow rat slayers, find some fun in my strange dream. If you come up with a decent alternate mission concept, please share it in the comments.

Rework/balance pass on the map
I’m hoping the programmers spend some time tweaking the maps when the class and weapon balance passes are completed. Here’s my own wish list; feel free to contribute to it! The Fort Brachenbrucke conclusion is a disappointment; it’s a great idea, but it’s simply too simple. I’d want to see…

At night, I shut my eyes and daydream about the day……
……. Houses of Morrowind and alliance war will be rotated out (which will take a long time since rotation isn’t a thing right now), but I miss the days when 3-color was a thing. (I’ve been playing since closed-beta completed top 100 legends in December 2016, thus I’ve got a lot of experience…

In terms of the DLC map policy,
TL;DR: As a DLC owner, new maps don’t appear as often as vanilla maps, and when they do, I host them. Because there is a limited pool of individuals to choose from, I don’t expect players to fill in. DLC’s new policy You now need the Ubersreik DLC to join the new…
