The new Intel Arc graphics cards are set to be released on October 19th, but the company has also revealed that users will be able to easily overclock their cards via a user interface.
Overclocking is the act of increasing the frequency at which a computer’s central processing unit (CPU) or graphics card operates.

The GeForce Experience and Radeon Software suites from NVIDIA and AMD both include GPU tuning tools that allow enthusiasts to adjust the performance of their graphics cards to some degree. Intel has announced that owners of its first gaming GPUs, code-named Alchemist, would be able to do the same, in an unexpected twist.
Roger Chandler (Vice President and General Manager of Client Graphics Devices and Solutions) stated that the driver UI accompanying these products would include integrated overclocking capabilities in a Medium post about Intel’s newly announced high-performance graphics brand, Arc.
The controls will be comprehensive enough, according to Chandler, to enable enthusiasts to “push the hardware to the limit.” The implication is that casual users may not need to utilize third-party overclocking tools to realize the potential of their graphics cards, as is usually the case owing to their history of providing tighter controls over voltages and other important changes.
Chandler goes on to say that Intel has put a lot of effort into its drivers, with benefits ranging from increased throughput for CPU-bound games to faster load times thanks to improved shader compilation. Intel’s Arc graphics solutions will enable ray tracing effects through DXR and experience improved performance thanks to technologies including variable rate shading and mesh shading, which Intel co-engineered with Microsoft.
We’re working on comprehensive capture features that take use of our powerful encoding technology since many gamers are also artists. A virtual camera with AI assistance and recorded game highlights that preserve your finest moments are among them. To offer enthusiasts the tools they need to push the hardware to its limits, we’re even incorporating overclocking controls into the driver UI.
