Netflix Releases First Teaser for Extraction 2, Bringing Chris Hemsworth’s Tyler Rake Back from the Dead

Netflix released the first teaser for its upcoming sequel to Extraction, which is set to be released on February 23, 2019. The trailer shows Chris Hemsworth’s Tyler Rake returning from the dead and struggling with his new existence.

Chris Hemsworth will reprise his role as Australian black operations mercenary Tyler Rake in the sequel to Netflix’s highly successful 2020 action thriller, Extraction, despite his character receiving a gunshot to the neck at the conclusion of the first film. Even after being double-crossed, the streamer revealed Extraction 2 today with the publication of a new and official Tudum trailer, revealing that Rake survived his successful and action-packed effort at rescuing an Indian drug lord’s abducted son inside the limits of Dhaka, Bangladesh.

Extraction 2 isn’t entirely surprising, given that the first film was one of Netflix’s most popular. In fact, it is the most-watched Netflix film of all time, with 99 million viewers in the first four weeks of its release.

Tyler Rake (Chris Hemsworth), a brave black market mercenary who goes on the toughest assignment of his career, was introduced to the world in the year 2020. What seems to be gone, though, may still be recovered.

This action-packed, edge-of-your-seat series is directed by Sam Hargrave and produced by Joe and Anthony Russo, the creative filmmakers of Avengers: Endgame.

“Wait till you see what Sam and I have prepared for this second chapter if you thought our first picture stretched the boundaries,” Hemsworth added. The release date for Extraction 2 has yet to be announced, but the actor will also appear in Marvel Studios’ Thor: Love and Thunder, which will be released on May 6, 2022.
